DVD Theater – a unique project in Perm

“Culture media center” was established with the help of Perm Committee for Cultural Affairs and Pushkin City Library. This project allows everyone to get access to a video archive of Perm theatres’ famous shows and plays. The main aim of the project is to preserve cultural heritage of the city and to familiarize wider audience with it. The project is absolutely unique; there are no analogues to it in Russia.

By the information of the Perm City Municipal Libraries Union, multimedia viewings take place in a very comfortable home-like environment of the round guest-room of the Pushkin Library (Smyshliaev’s House). Unique video archive contains more than 300 records of Perm theatrical shows from 1997 to 2010. The collection is getting bigger every year. These are the best shows of Perm theatres and art collectives. The library guest-room where the viewings take place is made in a form of an amphitheater  - it used to be a room for music nights in the house of Dmitry Smyshliaev. Now you can see a “Young Ural Ballet” concert, which took place on March 9, 2007, or visit Perm Choreographic School show from 1999, or any opera of “Opera Pushkiniana”.
